Sound Performance ? of an XLR Audio Cable interconnect:


-If one claims a particular sound performance caused by a wire, I must say this is nonsense, as there is no such thing and we do not offer "VooDoo" wires claiming sound improvements by wire!

-Same if one claims directivity of a wire, same nonsense and actually cheating.

In our philosophy, we try to support the idea that in an ideal situation a cable has no influence to the sound, which is naturally not possible.
The interconnect cable's only job shall be, to transport an audio signal from A to B and this with the least possible changing. As the genuine audio signal is at very low level, it needs protection. The cable would act like an antenna and our shielding efforts are only to protect the original signal from outside influences (electrosmog!)

So there is never too much shielding for an audio cable, particularly to a microphone cable.

So we offer various levels of shielding performances with our cable designs and in each category there are advantages and possible disadvantages.

Ranking (from top to lower): 

11401: The top shielding is provided using our 11401 magnetic shielded wire. Utmost one can do to protect the signal from outside influences. Disadvantage: Price and flexibility as the cable is much less flexible and possibly not so good to be used on stage. Needs larger diameter XLR connectors possibly. 

11301: Top copper shield. Conductor shielded, Double Reussen overall shield and a good flexibility. Almost same as 11401, just missing the magnetic shielding. Almost perfect but still high costs and not very flexible, but can be used on stage. Needs larger diameter XLR connectors possibly

11001: Starquad, very flexible, Double Reussen shield. Very thin conductor stranding (96x0.05) and relative low costs. Still superior to all known competitors. OK for industrial standard XLR connectors.

10701: 3 Conductor top flexible 3 conductor wire "Neumann style"  Our oldest and very popular solution for stage and long live. Check datasheet for more details.
OK for industrial standard XLR connectors.

10561: Best non starquad cable with conductor shield and Double Reussen shield. Also capable to transport digital audio signals (AES-EBU). Rather high costs compared to a "standard" microphone cable. Not very flexible (similar to 11301)  Needs larger diameter XLR connectors possibly

10405: Double Reussen shielded,  lower cost microphone cable and still superior to mentioned competing microphone cables. Low cost and top flexibility, Compact cable OK for industrial standard XLR connectors.

So many choices and at the end the hard 2 questions: Price and desired flexibility. For fixed installation and with sufficient budget the 11401 is the way to go w/o any compromise.
